As members of team TREATS! get ready to spend the holidays in Big Sur, California, we thought we’d pay our respect to one of our favorite architecture firms of the area: Carver + Schicketanz. Specializing in custom building design, green, LEED sustainable architecture, historic preservation and remodeling, Carver + Schicketanz has been responsible for some of the most majestic residences along this beautiful stretch of the California coast. From their new Coastlands House, where towering oaks, warm palettes and a massive stone base connects the structure to the uphill slope looking out to the brilliant blues of the ocean and vivid green of the hills to the earthy modernism of its Rocky Point House to the Dani Ridge House, a beautiful fusion of breathtaking grasslands, steep slopes, huge windows and, yes, a green sloping roof, we pay salute to one of our favorite architectural firms and wish them a happy holidays and great New Year.
